Before you book the house, check the area has good winter attractions and everything is still open.  You want at the very least a good cafe with good coffee not too far away.  A movie theatre and also check the market schedules, these are always great to check out any time of year.  You also want some fun things to do that are indoors like gin or wine tasting or chocolate making.

Taking a walk on the beach in winter is also great for your mental health and a quick tip in the cold water is known to have great health benefits, so being close the beach is a must.
